Summary of process:

  • Launch 16 July – deadline 30 July – 4 year fixed term – up to 14 vacancies
  • Application form with new competencies (250 words/competency) plus some additional Qs within that form
  • Paper sift based on application form (lay and judicial reviewers)
  • Telephone assessment sift – not limited to oral communication skills in this session – they have never done this before so there is no precedent for what it will include
  • 2 x professional referees
  • Selection Day – role play and interview plus references
  • Statutory consultation (have local/key judges on side as they may be asked)


There seems to be a lot of interest in this competition and we have already started working with many candidates.  So start thinking about it now if you are serious about an application ……………..
